The end of summer is near and SES San Francisco is here! The conference is next week, August 13 – 17 at Moscone West.  I am lucky enough to attend this year and am looking forward to learning and interacting with some of my favorite industry experts. The 5 day conference offers over 55 sessions on PPC, Social Media, Mobile, and SEO, as well as several networking events. SES San Francisco also features over 75 exhibitors and two new session formats, SES Talkback and Meet the Experts.

The lineup for this year’s conference is outstanding and with the gorgeous city of San Francisco for a backdrop, you can’t go wrong! I am really looking forward to the opening keynote, Business Optimization in a Digital Age, delivered by Avinash Kaushik. I have yet to see Avinash speak and all of my colleagues have only amazing things to say. I am really excited to hear his unique perspective on balancing multiple media channels. Selecting which tracks I will be attending was very difficult for me. So to help you out, I have studied the agenda and selected my top five sessions.

Big Data: What Marketers Need to Know

“The money is in the data” is the mantra for this session lead by Bryan Eisenberg. When I saw Bryan would be speaking at SES, I knew I would be attending this session, regardless of the topic. Bryan is a great speaker and is able to simplify his content and deliver actionable advice. Leveraging big data and acting on insights in real time are some of the topics highlighted in this session.

Mobile Marketing Tactics

The role of mobile in PPC advertising continues to grow and is a great method to increase customer engagement. In the last few months several clients have been interested in developing mobile campaigns to increase engagement and provide more measurable results. When I read about this track, I knew it was something I would want to attend so that I could expand my knowledge in this area to drive acquisition for my clients and create mobile campaigns as a complement to search.

Web Analytics Deep Dive

Thom Craver is another great speaker that always delivers great content. Analytics is an area where I really want to expand my knowledge base to transcend beyond basic metrics. Thom and Garry Przyklenk will show how to determine more common-sense information from the visitor data that you have collected. Interpreting results in terms of an organization’s needs and objectives is the main topic I am looking forward to.

Generate More Pinterest: Getting the Most from the New Kid on the Social Block

Pinterest is a recent addition to social media, but it is already driving more traffic to websites than YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn. I am yet to attend a conference where Pinterest is the sole topic of a session, so when I found out about this track, I knew I wanted to have this on my agenda. I am really interested in hearing what Jennifer and Mat have to say about leveraging the traffic from Pinterest to create value and conversions. Optimizing infographics for Pinterest, improving search relevance, and building loyalty are some of the main points that will be covered.

Effective PPC Auditing

Joseph Kerschbaum is one of my favorite speakers and his blogs are my go-to for the latest PPC tips, features, and news. I was able to see him speak at SES Chicago last November and he was kind enough to do a guest post for my blog series on our Amplify Interactive blog earlier this year. Auditing is a very frequent  process for one of my clients and we are working hard to improve our strategy on how we audit our existing search campaigns. I am really looking forward to receiving some advice on how to create a sustained plan of continuous campaign auditing, analysis, and optimization.
