It’s Friday; a beautiful day for an SEM article roundup! Here’s a collection of articles offering up to date tips and information about the search engine marketing industry. I hope you enjoy them!

How I Use Followerwonk, and Why I love It

Followerwonk is freaking awesome, there I said it. It is so powerful for doing research and outreach. In this article, Gianluca Fiorelli goes over how he uses Followerwonk whendevising a strategic marketing plan. His uses of Followerwonk include: Content Strategy Process

  • audience targeting
  • content strategy
  • content promotion
  • content campaign analysis
This is a great article on the uses of Followerwonk. And hey, don’t bother Signore Fiorelli’s about his minor grammatical mistakes; he’s Italian!

Everything You Need to Know to Generate Rich Snippets

Rich snippets are designed to make it easier for search engines and users to understand what a website contains, yet it’s still a relatively new subject and can be a bit confusing. This is a great resource for those who are looking to get started with rich snippets. There’s also a handy .pdf for you to print out. I’ll be bookmarking this and putting this to use for sure.

The Guide to US Census Data for Local SEO

Census data is incredibly valuable if you are doing local SEO. This article points out some very useful interactive maps that the US census provides. You can get really granular with this and get some great insights into your local demographics. Hey, you helped pay for it with your tax dollars, so put it to use!

Introducing Pinterest Web Analytics

Pinterest Analytics

Hey, Pinterest is offering analytics! If you have a verified website, you can get information about how many people have pinned from you site, how many people have seen these pins, and how many people visited your site from Pinterest. This way you can get a much better idea of what’s working and what is not working so well. This is great news for those who are using Pinterest as part of their marketing strategy.

Google Sets, Still Available

This kind of blew my mind. You can enter a couple of similar terms in consecutive cells in a Google spreadsheet column and drag it down while holding the option key (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and Google will automatically fill in the rest! For instance I entered “Rand Fishkin” and “Michael King” in consecutive cells:

Then I highlighted both boxes, held down Option (Mac- Ctrl for Windows), and dragged the box down. This is what Google gave me:

Seth Godin, Malcom Gladwell, Avinash Kaushik… pretty good company guys! Could this be the new vanity search? Actually, this is an old labs feature that has been discontinued. However, it still works. I can see using of this for keyword research.

For the Reader: Top 10 Best SEO and Social Media Books

Hey, blogs are great but it doesn’t replace good ol’ book learnin’. With a book you can get the whole picture and really form a solid, holistic foundation of knowledge. Of the books listed I’ve only read the one by Paddy Moogan (which is excellent). I have the other ones on my list. Get your learn on.
